Quarterly wheat export will be the largest in the last ten years, since December 2007.-February 2008. when it was exported about 6.8 million tonnes.

A third of all exported wheat (1.4 million tons) is for the traditional buyer – Brazil. Argentine wheat enjoys an advantage in the Brazilian market, as both countries are members of the customs Union MERCOSUR. The import of wheat from countries outside MERCOSUR are subject to a duty of 10%.

About 3.25 million tonnes will be shipped to countries in Africa and South-East Asia, which are key markets for Argentine wheat as she is forced to compete in price with wheat from the black sea countries, the USA, France and Australia.
