Farmers harvested 167,91 centners of wheat per hectare, surpassing the previous record (165,19 kg/ha), which for two years had prevented the farmers from great Britain.

The new record was recorded in the Guinness Book of records. Now New Zealand owns two record grain yield. Two years ago another new Zealand farmer set a record for yield of barley.

Eric Watson is engaged in agriculture within the last forty years. Previously, he has received a very high yield, but never set a record.

For sowing, he used a variety of Oakley bred in the UK. Recommendations for the needs of wheat for fertilizer was developed by Yara. Bayer has provided a new fungicide. In the growth period of wheat two times was used for irrigation. The yield of irrigated wheat in New Zealand is on average 120 kg/ha.

The harvesting of the record of the wheat was held in February. The crop harvested from 11.89 hectares, will be used to feed dairy cows.
