As specified, this decision, which entered into force on August 8, was taken under pressure from low world prices for grain on the basis of her record harvest in 2016/17 MG, which led to lower prices of imported products below the threshold allowed in the EU.

Recall that the EU can impose import duty if import prices calculated on the basis of "export price in the US plus the cost of ocean freight", will be lower than 157 Euro/ton for not less than 10 days.

It is assumed that the duty should cover the difference between the current price level and threshold of the EU with the possibility of adjustments in the future.

Also clarifies that the duty does not apply to annual duty-free quotas applicable in the EU and for the supply of 450 thousand tons of corn from Ukraine and 280 thousand tons of grain from other countries.
