In 2017, the region received 10,364 million tonnes of spring and winter wheat and barley, which is 212 thousand tons more than last year.

"The edge this year, not only another record crop, but and most importantly, quality. Kuban grain today, the best grain in Russia, the most suitable for the manufacture of bread. More than 80% of the crop and food quality third or fourth classes, and in some areas collected by the wheat of the second class", — said the Governor.

He noted that such success was achieved thanks to collaboration of farmers with the scientists that were able to create varieties of wheat with an average yield of 63 quintals per hectare.

As told academician of the Russian Academy of science Alexander Naidenov, last year in the whole of Russia no one received wheat first and second classes.

"But this year the farmers of Kuban managed to take that line. So, in 2017, the growers of the Caucasian district have collected 5 thousand tons of wheat of the second class, the Tbilisi – 4 thousand tons, Dinskoy, Ust-Labinsky and Tikhoretskaya – 3 thousand tons", — said the scientist.
