In Pakistan difficulties with export of surplus wheat
Stocks of wheat in Pakistan are now at a historically high level, while the country has difficulty exporting surplus grain. This was stated by the Pakistan flour millers Association (PFMA), according to Pakistan Defence

As specified, to the present time, the wheat stocks in the country are estimated at 9 million tons, which is record high due to large remnants of dry grain formed in the previous few seasons, when the gross harvest of wheat in Pakistan amounted to 25-26 million tonnes per year.

At the same time, noted in the Association at this stage the government is quite difficult to export the surplus wheat, as the domestic price of grain procurement reached $300 per ton, whereas world prices are fluctuating in the range of $150-170 per ton.

In addition, due to high stocks and supply of grain on the domestic market implementation of the regional departments of wheat to local millers stays for 3 months. Thus, processors will actively purchase grain from state funds only in December, not September-October, as is usual. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that only 50% of all wheat reserves in Pakistan are located in fixed silos, while the remaining amount – in open repositories.

It is also noted that in order to stimulate the grain export community of the country appealed to the government to allocate export subsidies in the amount of $170 per tonne of exported wheat.
