Al-Ouda filed a claim almost a year ago, demanding to bring a number of Egyptian Ministers responsible for the violation of the laws of the country prohibiting the import of wheat affected by ergot. In addition, the claim contains the requirement to prohibit the supply of wheat with the content of ergot, including from Russia, reports RIA "Novosti".

On Tuesday, the court ruled to ban the importation of wheat, affected with ergot, and not to take party in such grain.

In September 2016 the quarantine service of Egypt refused to import 60 thousand tons of Russian wheat. However, Cairo was forced to change the rules of the import of grain, abandoning the requirement of "zero ergot" because of three failed tenders. Russia again won the right to supply grain to Egypt without restrictions.

But in March, the company producers of wheat in Egypt, has rejected the two parties from Russia and a party from Argentina.

International standards allow the content of ergot in wheat at the level of 0.05% in connection with the fact that to achieve zero tolerance of ergot is technically impossible.

Egypt is the largest wheat importer in the world, and also one of the main buyers of Russian wheat.
