According to "Analysis of the vegetable oils market in Russia", prepared BusinesStat in 2017, 2012-2016 their sales in the country remained stable. By the end of 2016, it sold 2.94 million tons of vegetable oils that only 0.9% lower compared to 2.97 million tonnes in 2012, Falling sales of vegetable oils was observed only in 2015-2016, 6.1% and 1.4% compared to the previous year, respectively. The decline was due to a sharp increase in the sales prices of products at falling of solvent demand in a crisis.

Vegetable oils are implemented mainly in retail, the share of which in 2012-2016 accounted for an average of 55.5% of the total sales. Followed by industrial consumption is on average 40.2% of the total sales of vegetable oils in Russia. The share of the HoReCa sector in 2012-2016 accounted for 4.3% of all sold in Russia vegetable oils.

However, vegetable oil is traditional for Russians, food product, and therefore can not be completely excluded from the diet. In the coming years retail consumers will use sunflower oil, and to waive or reduce the daily consumption of more expensive and less traditional Russian diet oils – olive, corn, linseed.
