According to estimates of analysts of the South American Soybean&Corn Advisor, Argentina will be able to import from Paraguay at least 2 million tons of soybeans for the capacity utilization for the production of soybean meal. In this season, the country already imported soybeans from USA and Brazil.

The development of soybean cultivation in Paraguay took place in dry weather conditions, however, during the ripening of the harvest in key producing regions have sufficient rainfall.

The farmers of Paraguay has withdrawn a large amount of acreage of a second crop of soybean, sowing of which traditionally starts in August. The harvesting of the second crop is from December to January.

Given the growth of the world prices for soybeans, farmers expanded the area under sowing of second crop soybeans (+500 ha), harvesting of which will start in the next few weeks. Thus, the soybean crop in Paraguay at the end of the current season could exceed 10 million tonnes (10.3 million tonnes by the end of 2016/17gg).

Paraguay exports about 60% of the soybean crop. Traditional importers are the EU and Russia. However, this season, this trend may change due to logistical proximity to Argentina.
