The Minister coordinator for politics Luhut Panjaitan the Binsar said Indonesia quite successfully leads the negotiations on the import of palm oil in the EU, a ban on the importation was finally postponed until 2030. It is reported by Antaranews.
The decision to cancel the ban was agreed on a tripartite meeting of the European Commission, the European Parliament and of the Council of the EU on 14 June 2018.
"We have about 12 million hectares are located in peatlands. But that still leaves 10 million hectares in the pure land — that is enough," said the Minister coordinator.
The Minister added that Indonesia will create a working party for entry into the relevant EU Committee to discuss the criteria for import. He even summoned the EU Ambassador to Indonesia Vincent Gerenda for negotiations on this issue.
