Russia to refuse Ukrainian salt
Russia has to increase domestic production of food salt in order that import won't exceed 15% against present 40%.
- Agriculture Minister of the Russian Federation Nikolay Fedorov declared that this year Russia had to increase food salt production by 100 thousand tons – to 1 million t to refuse import of the product, especially from Ukraine.
- The share of import of food salt is quite high – 40%. Russia imports about 600 thousand tons of salt a year, including 80% (0,5 million t) supplied by Ukraine.
- According to Fedorov, growth of outputs will be made due to the reconstruction of enterprises in Orenburg and Astrakhan regions, which was made in 2013.
- The food security doctrine stipulates that Russia has to provide itself with salt for 85% by 2020.
