In the science and technology plan of China, posted on the government website, for the next 5 years includes work in the field of GMO technologies in soybeans and corn. It is planned to create GMO maize varieties resistant to pests, and GMO soybean varieties that are resistant to herbicides.

Currently, China allows the import of GMO soybeans for feed production for animals. However, Chinese society is a strong resistance to the use of GMO soybeans for food.
