For the first time in many decades, rainfall has significantly hampered the harvest in the fields of the Kaliningrad region, told in the press service of the regional government.

In this regard, the regional government plans to introduce a state of emergency.

"Due to heavy rains affected all economy of the region. Equipment, even the caterpillar can not get out in the field. The situation is complicated, in such a region was not in the last decade. Humidity of grain, harvested in the rare serene moments, is 23-25%, which twice exceeds the norm. Now we will use all drying complexes", — said acting Minister of agriculture Sergey Lutarevich.

Currently, grains and legumes threshed almost 30 thousand hectares, accounting for 22% of the cultivated area. The farmers were able to completely remove winter rapeseed, but yields decreased in comparison with the previous year to 22.4 tons per hectare.

The decision to impose emergency in agriculture will be the basis for seeking support to the Federal Ministry of agriculture, thus enabling local farmers to obtain insurance payments.
