The event gathered more than 200 representatives of the Ministry of agriculture, agribusiness management bodies of regions, leading horticultural and nursery farms, industrial unions and associations, as well as banking institutions and agricultural Universities, has become a unique business platform to exchange experience and discuss development of domestic gardening.

During the plenary meeting held in Nalchik, the participants discussed the most topical issues in the field of horticulture. Opened the official part of the event, the Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Yuri Kokov, and the Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev.

In his speech, Alexander Tkachev noted that the choice of the region to hold such an important for domestic gardening activities is not accidental: in the last years in the Republic are actively involved in the development of gardening and horticulture, there is a saturation of the consumer market high-quality fruit and berry production and reduce its imports.

"Establishing gardens, Kabardino-Balkaria, of course, occupies the first place in Russia: in the region each year there are more than 1 thousand hectares of gardens. We aim to significantly increase production to 5-7 years in our country there is a new brand "Russian Apple", — said the Minister.

However, Alexander Tkachev said that today, Russia is only the beginning for the development of horticulture: the country is unable to fully meet the needs of the population in fruits and berries. And despite the difficult geopolitical and economic situation in Russia, the Government's primary goal is not just to replace "sanctions" domestic products, "to create the whole structure of the vegetable and fruit growing, which for many regions of the Russian Federation can become a kind of basis and a point of growth for the regional economy."
