Farmers in the UK has sent an appeal to the government to introduce a mandatory requirement to indicate the origin of milk at dairy product processing.

According to participants of the National farmers Union, this initiative will make the supply chain more transparent and help consumers in the selection of goods. Members of the branch Union fear that, if Britain leaves the EU, the government will not deal with the protection of place of origin of goods. In the letter, the farmers give as an example the initiative of the government of France, where such a rule already installed. Other participating countries the EU also outlined the timing of the introduction of mandatory labeling of dairy products at the place of origin of raw materials.

In may 2016, the national farmers Union conducted a public opinion survey which showed that 60% of Britons look for in the shops the products of local origin. The introduction of such rules, the farmers want to stop the falsification of British dairy products on the market.
