Astrakhan oblast and the Iranian holding company will establish the supply of meat
Iranian holding "Etka" is considering the possibility of organizing supplies of beef and lamb from the Astrakhan region in Iran

This was announced by the CEO of the company Mohammad Karbalai.

"Now aboutKolo 20-30 thousand tons (of meat per year – ed.) import from other countries. We consider the possibility of organizing supplies of this production volume here. And even this figure may increase because we intend to increase our market", — said M. Karbalai after a meeting with Governor of Astrakhan region Alexander Zhilkin.


According to M. Karbalai, currently holding buys meat in Brazil and is interested in supplies of Russian beef and lamb.


"The quality of meat in Russia, and especially in the Astrakhan region, good. We are also considering the possibility of supply of live animals for slaughter in Iran", he added.


From its part A. Zhilkin during the meeting with the Iranian delegation noted that the Astrakhan region is ready to export lamb: livestock farmers of the region harvested more than 10 tonnes of mutton per year; thus the need for the region this meat is 3.5 thousand tons per year.

He also stressed that "for Astrakhan Iran is a strategic partner for many years."


"We are ready to cooperate. All that you are interested in, we will show you will help in every way, in order to further develop our economic relations and give the business to feel comfortable here", — said the head of the region.


According to the administration of the Astrakhan region, "Etka" is the biggest holding company in Iran. The company has its own sales network of about 500 stores and distribution centers. The main areas of activity are agriculture, livestock, wholesale and retail trade, food industry, household appliances and electronics, textiles, insurance and Finance, construction and investments.

The trade turnover of the Astrakhan region and Iran in January-July amounted to $74,2 million (for the accounting period 2015 – $100.6 million).
