Ukraine imposed a ban on imports of poultry, poultry meat and offal from Germany due to avian influenza outbreaks. This was reported by the State service for food safety and consumer protection of Ukraine on Wednesday, November 30.

It is prohibited to import to Ukraine of the Federal States Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg - Vorpommern, Saxony-Anhalt and lower Saxony poultry, products and raw materials from it, except for products and raw materials treated by the method of guaranteeing the destruction of pathogens of these diseases, said on the Agency's website.

Also introduced restrictions on the import of poultry products and raw materials from it in Austria, where the official was highly pathogenic bird flu, said the Ukrainian authorities. They refer to information of the world organization for animal health.

According to the organization, Ukraine reported avian influenza outbreaks among poultry in the South of the country. At the same time, it is unclear whether it is a virus that was detected in wild and domestic birds in Europe, Asia and the middle East, experts stress.

In Germany November 12 in connection with the threat of avian influenza was created by a crisis. A dangerous strain of avian influenza H5N8 was discovered on one of the poultry farms in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in Mecklenburg - Vorpommern. Before the emergence of bird flu was recorded at a poultry farm in Schleswig-Holstein, and died of this disease in wild birds in four German länder. One of the tasks of the crisis staff will be countering contacts infected domestic and wild birds.
