The delegation got acquainted with the activities of breeding and seed production center and testing laboratory. On their basis are carried out molecular biological and genetic research associated with the breeding of potato varieties and the maintenance of collections of plants, minitubers and produced the original seed potatoes, as well as performed diagnostics of diseases of crops. During the inspection noted that the company has created and maintained a collection of plants of potatoes, consisting of material of their own selection in the amount of 26 hybrids and grades of 19 leading foreign breeding centers.

"These centers provide our country with quality seed material for the production of domestic potatoes. The company has all capabilities to become an innovative biotechnology cluster, supplying competitive high-yield seeds to all regions of Russia", — said Dzhambulat Hatuov.

After visiting the sites Dzhambulat Hatuov and Michael kotyukov held a meeting to discuss the revision of the subprogramme development of potato, developed by the Ministry of agriculture.

At the meeting the participants discussed the need for additional measures of state support aimed at development of national breeding and seed production, with the aim of deducing on the Russian market new varieties of potatoes domestic breeding, as well as issues related to the promotion of the domestic market of breeding achievements of the scientific-research institutes of Russia.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of agriculture of Russia Elena Astrakhantseva, Director of the Department of plant, mechanization, chemicalization and plant protection Ministry of agriculture Pyotr Chekmarev, heads of industry unions and associations, research institutions FANO of Russia, the largest producers of seed potatoes, as well as leading experts in the field of potato growing.
