The Ministry of primary industries (MPI) of New Zealand and the company Spring Sheep Milk Co has signed a contract on the establishment of the new program (Sheep – Horizon Three PGP).

The creators of the program Sheep – Horizon Three PGP want thanks to her, by 2030, the annual income from the sale of products made from sheep's milk accounted for 700 million new Zealand dollars (484 million U.S. dollars). The program will create 55 farms, fully optimized for sheep.

Scotty Chapman, CEO of Spring Sheep Milk Co, noted that New Zealand is in an ideal position to develop the production of products based on sheep's milk.

Martin Dunn, CEO of MPI, said that in New Zealand this branch of the dairy industry is in its infancy, despite the growing demand for products from sheep's milk.
 

"In the next few years Spring Sheep Milk Co will develop the right system sheep farms and imported high quality genetic material to start raising sheep, which are ideal for milking in the unique environment of New Zealand" — said Dunn.
 

The program lasts for six years. During this time, the Ministry of primary industries invests in her 12,56 million new Zealand dollars (8.7 million US dollars), and Spring Sheep Milk Co – 18,83 million new Zealand dollars (13 million U.S. dollars).
