As noted by Agence France-Presse, from the beginning of December the cases of infection of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus H5N8 has already recorded more than 230 poultry farms in the nine departments in the South-West of the country.

"We need to develop a strategy to limit traffic (ducks and geese), you must sign an agreement with the Union of producers of foie Gras to revise the model of production", — said the official representative of the French government Stephane Le Foll.

Earlier it was reported that in the region up to January 20 will be destroyed over a million ducks and geese from the total population, with 18 million birds.
