According to preliminary results of 2016, officially manufactured dairy products (calculated as milk fat), about 872,9 thousand tons for processing received 746,1 thousand tons of milk fat in the form of raw milk produced in Russia, from 59.9 thousand tons – imports, about 1.9 thousand tons – due to the use of reserves.

Thus, the shortage of milk fat to produced in 2016, dairy products amounted, according to preliminary data, about 64.9 per thousand tons or about 7%.

The calculation takes into account data on the import of milk fat used in the production of dairy products in Russia. This means that about 7% of manufactured dairy products are counterfeit (illegally milk fat replaced by vegetable fats).

In 2015, at year-end proportion of counterfeits was around 9-10%. The decline of falsification in the dairy market might be related to a complex of the actions directed on identification of adulterated dairy products, resulting in part of falsified butter after adjustment markings have moved into the category "Margarines and spreads".
