The studies of Professor Howe, mainly focused on genetic selection and feeding of Peking ducks. As a geneticist, specializing in duck, Professor Howe conducted a genetic selection Peking duck, and new, specialized breed "Z-kind Peking duck" with Visakhapatnam meat and komoodia. This species was successfully launched by a Professor and his team.

In 2010, Professor HOU and his team took first place at the State Science and Technology Competition in Beijing for his research achievement on "Innovation and application of genetic resources Beijing duck".

As a nutrition specialist duck, Professor Howe made editor-in-chief of labour standards feeding Mandarin ducks "Nutrient requirements of meat breed ducks" established by the Ministry of Agriculture of China.
