This was stated by the head of the British Treasury, Philip Hammond. "A tax on the sugar content of the drinks is stored. Manufacturers have already begun to reduce the amount of sugar in beverages, which means that the forecast reduction in the level of collected tax. But this is good news for our children", said Hammond, speaking in Parliament.
 

"The funds (1 billion pounds) from tax... will be invested in school projects in the country", — the Minister added.

On Wednesday, Hammond introduced in the house of Commons of the British Parliament the draft budget, which was the first prepared after the referendum on secession of the United Kingdom from the EU. According to the document, the British economy, despite Brexit, has entered a period of growth, while in November the Office of budget responsibility (an organization advising the government in the budget) forecast a worsening of the situation.
