A new market can open for Russian exporters in the case if the two presidents during their meeting on Tuesday, March 28, agree about removing Tehran's restrictions on imports of Russian wheat.

Ahead of the meeting of Obydenov said that Russian business expects to overcome the various administrative barriers that exist between countries and hinder trade development.

"Now turnover between Russia and Iran where some 1.7 billion dollars. Very much hope that as a result of the meeting, the leaders of Russia and Iran agree on the steps that the trade turnover between the countries will increase at least 2-3 times", — he said.

According to him, the prospects for this. "Iran needs our technology, our products. Now in the Wake of the overstatement of customs duties on imported Turkish wheat grain market is reeling, Iran is again a strategic partner in our consumption of grains, wheat, corn, oil. I think Iran will easily be able to buy all the wheat destined for Turkey", — said the expert.

In mid-March, Turkish authorities stopped issuing import licenses for wheat, corn, sunflower oil and meal from Russia. Russia's agriculture Ministry last week said that Ankara could lead to a complete cessation of imports of Russian wheat, corn, beans and rice in Turkey.

Iran was one of the world's largest importers of cereals, annually purchasing more than 12 million tons of grain. However, from 21 March 2016, Iran has banned the import of wheat into its territory because of the good grain harvest. "I hope that our leaders agree on this issue", — said Obydenov, commenting on the ban of Iran and the prospects for its removal.
