In the 2017/18 season exports of wheat and barley from Ukraine will decrease - USDA
In the next season Ukraine will reduce production of wheat and barley, which will lead to reduction of export of these crops. According to the External service of the Department of agriculture (FAS USDA)

Gross harvest of wheat will fall to 23.9 million tonnes, up by 11% compared to the current season, as the reduction in the area under winter wheat not compensate for the acreage extension spring.

Wheat is used in Ukraine mainly for food purposes. In 2014/15 there was a sharp decline of wheat consumption due to the reduction of incomes and loss of control of the Republic of Crimea and parts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

This and next season, restore the production of wheat flour does not happen. In season 2017/18 domestic consumption of wheat will total 11.7 million tonnes (11.4 million tonnes in the current season), including for fodder – 4,7 (4,4) million tonnes.

Wheat exports next season will fall to 12.9 million MT, up 19% compared to the 2016/17 season.

Barley production will decrease by 12.5% to 8.7 million tonnes due to the reduction in acreage and yield.

Domestic consumption of barley will remain at a stable level (5 million tons).

Exports of barley will fall by 27.5% to 3.7 MMT due to the decrease in harvest.

The growth of the area under maize will increase its production by 2% to 28.7 million tonnes.

Two-thirds of consumption in Ukraine of corn intended to feed livestock and poultry. In the 2017/18 season due to the reduction of livestock and poultry consumption of corn will decrease to 7,3 (7,6) million tonnes.

The volume of export of maize in the next season will grow by 7% to 21.5 million tonnes.

Ukraine will continue to develop economic ties with the countries of the European Union and to increase supplies of grain and products of its processing.
