The volume of production of coffee type, Arabica in Colombia, included in the number of world exporters of this product in June of this year fell compared with the same period in 2016 by 9%, according to the national Federation of coffee growers of the country.

So, according to the organization, in June, it collected a total of 1.05 million bags of coffee compared to 1.16 million last year. Bag weighing 60 pounds is considered a traditional measure of volume for coffee.

The reason for this decline was the delay in flowering of coffee shrubs in the period between June and October 2016, which affected the harvest in the first half of this year.

During January-June 2017 total collection of the coffee harvest in Colombia is estimated at almost 6.4 million bags, which is 3% lower than last year. Approximately the same percentage reduction observed in the last 12 months (July 2016-June 2017).

The volume of exports of Colombian coffee growing. In June, the country sold to the external market 964 thousand bags, which is 3% higher than in June 2016, said Notimex.
