"Auchan" has stopped to give free packages
Hypermarkets "Auchan" in Russia will no longer give out free plastic bags to customers. This practice, the retailer decided to terminate on November 15, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the company. The decision was made in support of the year of ecology in Russia.

"If the buyer knows what kind of package he will have to pay, he will take exactly the amount of packaging, which he really needed, if you offer free packets, that the client has the opportunity to take any amount of packages even if they are not necessary", — said the retailer.

The company added that it is only about hypermarkets. In supermarkets and stores format "at home" free packing was not originally.

Earlier in hypermarkets "Auchan" in addition to paid ekopaket and bags reusable customers were offered a free package at the box office.

In October, the special representative of the President of Russia on environmental issues, ecology and transport Sergei Ivanov proposed to introduce in Russia the environmental fee on plastic bags and support the production of paper. In turn, the Minister of natural resources Sergey Donskoy said that the environmental fee on plastic bags could be introduced in Russia in 2018-2020.
