With the help of state support of the Altai scientists will continue work on the creation of soybean varieties. Altai breeders aim at a new variety, which will change with the vegetation period 90-95 days, to have higher yields than existing, but by the content of protein and fat is optimal for the processing industry. The maximum productivity of a grade will demonstrate in the Ob area and Piedmont region.

"We are working on productivity and protein, while maintaining an optimum period of vegetation. It will be a sort of average between the existing Altoma and Hope: quite precocious, productive and with good protein content", - said the Director of the Altai Federal scientific center of agrobiotechnology Alexey Garkusha.

After removing a grade will be submitted for variety testing, then it will be regionalized, and then approved for cultivation in the farms.

In recent years, soybeans in the Altai region is gaining popularity among farmers due to increasing demand from the processing industry. If in 2016 it is held on 31 thousand hectares, this year the sowing area has increased almost twice and reached 61 thousand hectares.

Altai farmers together with scientists hope to grow better and more resistant to weather conditions of the region culture.
