According to the FCS of Russia and the operational data of the train statistics, at the end of 2017 the volume of Russian exports of beet sugar increased by 5 times in comparison with the period a year earlier, and exceeded 500 thousand tons, totaling more than $200 million

"The greatest amount of sugar in 2017 was exported to traditional destinations: Azerbaijan – 105 thousand tons, Kazakhstan – 129 thousand tons, Tajikistan – 27 thousand tons. New and promising for the Russian market was the Uzbekistan – 109 thousand tons," the report States.

Also by the end of 2017, it exported over 1 million tons of sugar beet pulp and 700 tons of molasses, which corresponds to level of last year. The increase rate of exports of these products prevented the untimely and insufficient supply of wagons for the transportation of the mentioned products abroad.

"The total volume of exports of sugar and by-products in 2017 amounted to 2.2 million tons, totaling nearly $400 million, which is the highest figure in recent years", stressed the Soyuzrossakhar.

As the volume of production of beet sugar in Russia, in 2017, they reached a new historical maximum and amounted to 6.6 million tons. Excess sugar on 1 January 2018, given the import of Belarusian sugar are estimated at 800 thousand tons.

"If the current rate of shipments, the total volume of sugar exports before the start of the harvest season in 2018 may reach 500 thousand tons", - experts predict.
