Karelian company "Sapa" plans to create a production for the extraction and processing of nutrients from lake silt - sapropel. The investment project worth 500 million rubles will create 40 jobs, said Monday the press service of the development Corporation of the Republic.

"The investment project for the extraction and processing of sapropel at a cost of 500 million roubles is one of the new ones located on the support of Corporations of development of Karelia. According to the developed project passport, the period of implementation is five years from 2018 to 2023," the statement reads.

According to the press service, the manufacture plans the production of 500 tons per day of fertilizer in a dry, granular, paste and tablet form. As a result of implementation of the project will create more than 40 jobs.

"Now there is a preparation study for development of deposits of sapropel on one of the lakes medvezhyegorsky district, including topographic surveying, exploration and ecologisation work", - have noted in Corporation. As explained TASS the press service, the initiator of the investment project is Karelian Sapa, OOO.

According to the Ministry of natural resources and ecology of the Republic on the territory of the region there are more than 61 thousand lakes. Of these, only 217 lakes were carried out exploration work in the sapropel. Deposits identified on 166 lakes with total geological reserves and resources of 33.5 million tons at 60% moisture conditional.
