Unique enterprise for production of salmon with an investment volume of almost 1.5 billion rubles will be built in Vologda region in 2018, told RIA Novosti head of the Department progressov and fisheries regional selhozzapchastey Merab Stepanov.

"It will be an industrial fish farm for salmon growing capacity of about 2000 tons per year. The Vologda region that will create new jobs, increase production and processing of salmon. It is important in General for the country and for our region, because fish consumption by Russians is only 10% of medical standards", — said Stepanov.

According to him, such an ambitious project in the field of aquaculture in the region will be implemented for the first time.

 
 

"Factory farming salmon is planned to construct in the Vologda area. Local investors are ready to invest about 1.5 billion rubles. They are now looking for a suitable place for the company where in special pools in the artesian water will be grown environmentally friendly, tasty and healthy fish. If this year to start construction, people will be able to taste the local salmon in 2020," — said Stepanov.

 

He reminded that now in the region is aquaculture the five companies. In Kaduyskogo area bred sturgeons and carps, in Sokol — African catfish, in Belozersk — rainbow trout in Vashkinsky area the fry grow pike. In total, last year the region produced 126 tonnes of fish, which is 17% more than in 2016. In terms of fish farming in the Vologda oblast takes the fifth place in the North-West of the country.
