The cheese factory which is based in Gorodovikovsky district of Kalmykia with the participation of Italian businessmen will start to produce this year. This was reported TASS the head of the Republic Alexei Orlov after the exit meeting of security Council Secretary of the Russian Federation in the southern Federal district.

Earlier it was reported that businessmen from Veneto (a region in Italy - approx. TASS), along with his technician visited Gorodovikovsk, where local milk produced cheese and was very pleased with the quality. After that, they decided to establish in Kalmykia production of cheese. This production will be the first joint project of the Kalmykia Republic and Italy. Investment in the project will amount to about €1 million, the dairy will process 5 to 10 tons of milk per day.

"This year we are expecting first products, the work goes on, all related administrative formalities completed in the last year. Also in test mode have already tried to produce products. This year should begin the implementation of [the cheeses], roughly in the spring," said Orlov.

He also said that Italian businessmen intend to lay out a fruit garden in Gorodovikovsk area you plan to grow apples, pears.

According to the regional Ministry of economy and trade, in Gorodovikovsk area it developed dairy farming, so for the production of cheese the milk will be enough. In addition, the district borders with the Rostov region and Stavropol territory, where well-developed dairy industry. The Kalmyk breed of cattle is considered one of the best in Russia and one of the oldest in the world. Livestock population in Kalmykia is over 530 thousand head.
