Russian manufacturers need to bring milk production up to 40 million tons a year to ensure the own needs of the country. The shortage of milk in Russia is 25%, said Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich at the regional agricultural conference during a trip to Stavropol Krai.
"We have a shortage of milk in the country. Approximately 25% we do not have enough of the total consumption. Today we produce about 31 million tonnes, we need 40 [million tonnes], at least, to ensure their own consumption," - said Dvorkovich.
According to him, lack of milk production now kompensiruet supplies from Belarus. "But we would like ourselves to achieve the required volumes. I hope that Stavropol Krai will play here a leading role. Although, of course, large volumes will be produced in regions where the grain, of course, not so much," - said Deputy Prime Minister.
