At a press conference on the export of champagne, the Committee said that over the past 12 years, the turnover of champagne in total increased by 1 billion Euro, and outside Europe the turnover of one of the most famous French drinks over the same period has doubled.

The Committee noted that in 2017, the export of champagne for the first time exceeded domestic consumption of the drink in France. Exports to Europe amounted to 26% of total turnover, export outside Europe — 31%.

The Committee also stressed that China is a promising market for exports of French champagne.
