Since 2015 the volume of domestic production exceeded foreign shipments. In 2017 the share of the Russian salt accounted for 62.6 per cent of the market share of import – the rest of 37.4%. In a further development of the market of interest at the governmental level: "food security Doctrine of the Russian Federation", adopted in 2010, defines the minimum share of domestic edible salt for the domestic market – 85%.
