In a further development of the market of interest at the governmental level: "food security Doctrine of the Russian Federation", adopted in 2010, defines the minimum share of domestic edible salt for the domestic market – 85%.

Between 2013 and 2017 imports of food salt in Russia in natural terms decreased by 34.1% to 490,2 thousand tons because of severe decline in 2015 (50.9% compared to 2014) was a ban on the import of Ukrainian food production of salt "Artemsol" imposed by the CPS on 26 January.
