In January — April 2018 the production of pigs for slaughter in live weight in agricultural organizations of Russia made up 1.29 million tonnes, 11.7% higher than a year earlier. The main increase in production has provided farmers in the Voronezh, Kursk, Pskov, Tomsk and Belgorod regions, reportedthe press service of the Ministry of agriculture on Friday, may 18.

According to data published by Rosstat, the volume of pork production in live weight for four months of the Voronezh region was held among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation third place. Output in the region compared to the same period in 2017, increased by 79%, to 80 thousand tons took First place in Belgorod oblast, where the production increased by 3.3% to 275 thousand tons. The number of cattle in the region by the end of 2017 was as follows: cattle — 461,5 million heads (a decrease by 1%), pigs — 1.2 million heads (growth in 1.6 times), sheep and goat — 234,3 thousand (decrease by 4.4%).
