Russia has strengthened control over the supply of fruits and vegetables from Turkey.
The Rosselkhoznadzor tightens control over exports to Russia fruit and vegetable products from Turkey because found during inspections of quarantine risks, said the Minister.

Since the beginning of the year as a result of inspections of regulated products of high phytosanitary risk imported into the territory of Russia from Turkey, the Rosselkhoznadzor had detected 195 cases of detection of quarantine objects.

"For this reason, the Rosselkhoznadzor has taken steps to strengthen control over the supply of horticultural products into the territory of the Russian Federation, with regard to the level of phytosanitary risk in the frequency of detection of quarantine objects, providers, and types of supply from the Republic of Turkey of quarantine products", — stated in the message.

 
 

The Rosselkhoznadzor explained to RIA Novosti that the new measures imply the monitoring of all incoming batches of vegetable products. In addition, the service will keep track of the flow of goods and to compare them with the production facilities for which data was received during the inspection.

 

 

On Friday, the Rosselkhoznadzor reported that according to the results of inspection of places of production and storage of fresh apples in Turkey have not found products intended for export to Russia, which may indicate the re-export of apples to Russia, including sanctions. In mid-may, the service announced that it was concerned about the increasing volume of supply in Russia of apples from Turkey.

Earlier in may, the Russian Ministry recorded violations of phytosanitary norms of Turkish suppliers for tomato after removing restrictions on businesses.

Russia introduced an embargo on the supply of Turkey a number of products from 1 January 2016 in response to the attack on the Turkish air force Russian su-24 in Syria at the end of November 2015. In the fall of 2016 limits consistently starred, however, a ban on the supply of tomatoes, one of the most important for Turkish goods remained until November 2017. From may 1, Russia lifted restrictions on the number of companies exporting tomatoes from Turkey, leaving the total quota for deliveries in the amount of 50 thousand tons per year.
