HEINEKEN LAUNCHES WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT AT THE BREWERY "SHIHAN" IN STERLITAMAK

In the official opening ceremony was attended by Vladimir Ivanovich Kulikov, mayor of the city of Sterlitamak, Khaibullin Azat Pavasovic, head of the Chelyabinsk territorial Directorate of the Ministry of nature management and ecology of Bashkortostan Republic and Roman Astanin, Director of the branch "Shihan" of HEINEKEN in Russia.

"Despite the difficult overall economic situation, the HEINEKEN company pays attention to the environment and invests in meaningful and necessary projects for the city a lot of money, stressed in his opening speech the Deputy head of the city administration's investment, development of entrepreneurship and consumer market of Rustam Rakhmangulov. – Of course, the start of work of treatment facilities at a large company in Sterlitamak will have a positive impact not only on the state of the urban environment, but also will be economically beneficial. Administration of Sterlitamak welcomes projects aimed at reducing the influence of industrial companies on nature and hopes that this initiative will not last."

"The completion of the project and the launching of treatment facilities is a significant event for the city and district. Implementation stages in this project were conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of nature management and ecology of Bashkortostan Republic, and we appreciate the company's contribution to the improvement of the ecological situation in the region," says Khaibullin Azat Pavasovic, head of the Chelyabinsk territorial Directorate of the Ministry of nature management and ecology of Bashkortostan Republic.

The company started the project of reconstruction of system of collection and treatment of storm sewage in October 2017. During the implementation of the project was a large-scale excavation and construction works on reconstruction of the tanks mechanical wastewater treatment plant and stormwater sewers.

"In the framework of the strategy "Making beer, making the world a better place" we systematically minimize the impact on the environment: we invest in social projects, reduce CO2 emissions, reduce water consumption. For example, the new purification system will allow to save about 100 cubic meters of water per day on hot days. This figure will be achieved through a multi-stage treatment of rainwater, which will then be used to cool the equipment," - says Roman Astanin, Director of the branch "Shihan" of HEINEKEN in Russia.

 

HEINEKEN at the global level is committed to sustainable business development – the concept of maximum conservation of resources for future generations. In 2017 the company managed to reduce specific water consumption by 5%, heat and electricity – by 3.9% and 5.2%, respectively, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 7% and increase the share of recycled waste up to 99%.
