On the occasion of the opening of the annual celosvetove-fair "Green week" in Berlin statistical office of Germany (Destatis) has decided to publish the data about the development of the country's agriculture, including organic. About it reports "migration Bulletin".

According to the Agency, from 2007 to 2017 the German company for organic plant growing and livestock have seriously raised the production volumes. For example, during this time, in farms the number of hens organic eggs increased from 1.8 to 5.1 million head. Also in the last year from 12.1 billion eggs for the organic fraction had 1.3 billion.

Great strides have been farmers engaged in organic farming. For example, over the past five studied years (2012-2017) area of organic crops in Germany increased from 9.2 to 10.7 percent. Most of organic crops for the previous year was legumes and root crops – 13.5 and 10.3 percent, respectively.

At the same time, Destatis noted a reduction in the number of farms in the country. From 2010 to 2016 declined eight percent to 276,1 thousand. According to the Agency, about 30 percent of the farmers receive additional income from other sectors. The most popular of them were horse riding, agro-tourism, processing and direct marketing of agricultural products, timber and others.
