In recent years, Egypt was able very successfully to increase the export of potatoes.

According to preliminary data, total exports of Egyptian potatoes in 2018 amounted to 755 000 tonnes, which is by 83 000 tons more than in the previous year.

From the point of view of quantity, the EU has long ceased to be the most important trading partner of Egypt, as only about 175,000 tonnes of potatoes were exported to the EU in 2018. The majority of potatoes coming from Egypt to Russia.

Yet it is difficult to estimate what will be the volume of exports of potatoes of the new season, as the weather in Egypt has deteriorated in recent weeks it rained and there was a steady cold.

The decisive factor of future supplies is the fact which rates can be achieved in different countries and whether the range of the assortment to customer requests. But the demand for Egyptian potatoes in Europe is stable, it is a fact.

So, last year, Greece has purchased 68 000 tonnes, Italy - 58 000 tons, but the volume of Germany has gained as the largest purchaser of new potatoes from Egypt to the EU. As for Russia, it remains the most important market for Egyptian potatoes on a global scale.
