Russian authorities are considering an appeal of the DPRK on the free delivery of 50 thousand tons of wheat to eliminate the damage from natural disasters last year, said the head of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev.

"Now, as I was informed, the Russian authorities is considering the appeal of the Korean side about the free delivery of 50 thousand tons of wheat to eliminate the damage inflicted by natural disasters last year. I hope that a solution will be found," said Kosachev at the meeting with the DPRK Ambassador to Russia Kim Hyun-Jung on Monday.

As noted by the head of Committee of the Federation Council, Russia continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the DPRK through international organizations and on a bilateral basis.

"By the world food programme of the UN, our commitments estimated eight million dollars for past and current years, and these obligations are fully implemented", - said Kosachev.

Another area of humanitarian assistance, according to him, the search of sources of financing of projects United Nations children's Fund on the fight against child and maternal mortality in DPRK.
