In accordance with this in 2018/19 marketing year it is expected that Ukraine will produce about 6.8 million tons of oil and 6.4 million tons of meal, which is 15 or 12 percent more than in the previous year.

Ukraine has the ability to process the entire crop in the country.

In addition, there is an export duty of 10% on sunflower seeds, which makes exports less attractive than domestic processing and exports of by-products. This is also evident from foreign trade data from the FAS.

The export of sunflower in marketing year 2018/19 is estimated at 100 000 tonnes, while the export of oil is expected to reach 6.2 million tonnes, while meal - 5.2 million tons, which is 16 or 23 percent more than last year.

30% of Ukrainian sunflower oil goes to the EU, SME is 46% of the total volume of product produced.

In the national analysis of Ukrainian sunflower oil is mainly in India, and the meal – mostly in Belarus and France.

Consumption of sunflower oil in our own country in Ukraine plays a minor role. For food and industrial uses consumed a total of 575 000 tons of sunflower oil, which is 8.5% of production.

More important is the use of sunflower seeds in own feed production: 1.38 million tons used to produce meal.
