The early system of feeding chickens in an incubator – a new approach to health in poultry
In Germany invented specialized incubators for more healthy Chicks

The German company REWE Group in Germany, first introduced last year for growing chickens early feeding, where the kids get food in the incubator and not left unattended for up to 36 hours. Results - excellent, assured the poultry farmers.

Early feeding means recently valuewise Chicks are provided with immediate access to water, food and light, which gives them the advantage of better health.

Unlike traditional incubators, where the Chicks get nothing, with the result that the chickens lose up to 10% of the weight as a result of dehydration and become weak.

This incubation window, which can last up to 36 hours, a problem in industrial poultry production, as chickens are created extra burden when they are automatically separated from the eggshell and placed in transport boxes to move to the feedlot, which may take more time and increase the mortality rate.

Thus, the REWE Group uses incubators with an innovative system of early feeding in two hatcheries.

The system provides direct feeding and watering in the incubator. In a two-story levels (up to 90 eggs each) newly hatched Chicks automatically descend to the lower level.

There they have enough light, air and space to move freely without any forced actions for the destruction of the shells, they have access to water and feed immediately after hatching.

After the opening of the incubators is removed only the top layer with egg shell. The lower level containing the chickens and their feed is a comfortable crate for transport.

Early feeding and drinking supply, optimal climate control and adequate space and light to prevent developmental disorders and give all the Chicks a positive and aligned start in life. Mortality rates can be significantly reduced through this approach.

Dr. Ludger Wandered, the head of strategy and innovation, said: "Poultry in accordance with the needs of animals starts in the incubator. We welcome the implementation of early feeding, which is still little used in Germany, this will lead to a significant improvement in the health of poultry".
