Changes are made by a group of state Duma deputies and Federation Council members to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation on development of rural tourism (agritourism).

"The bill proposes in the Federal law "About bases of tourist activity development in the Russian Federation" to consolidate the definition of "agricultural tourism (agritourism)" as a type of tourism, involving temporary departures (travel) of citizens of the Russian Federation, foreign citizens and persons without citizenship to domestic agricultural producers engaged in rural tourism", - stated in the explanatory Memorandum.

According to the authors, the requirements for the organization of rural tourism products is the creation of a Federal Executive authority performing functions of public policy and legal regulation in the sphere of tourism development and tourist activities, together with the Federal Executive authority responsible for drafting state policy and legal regulation in the sphere of agriculture.

The document notes that the development of rural tourism will contribute to the diversification of the rural economy and improving the profitability of agricultural producers, which has a positive impact on rural employment and contribute to the economic development of constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

"The economic feasibility of tourism development in rural territories in the Russian Federation is confirmed overseas, including European experience. According to the European Federation of rural tourism in Europe rural tourism in popularity takes the second place," emphasize the authors.
