Growing prices for food products in the shops of the Russian Federation in the first quarter of 2019 amounted to 3.1%. These data derive from a published today, April 23, report of the Federal service of state statistics (Rosstat).

According to Rosstat, only for March, 2019, prices for food in Russia grew by 0.6%. For the period from January to March significantly increased the prices for vegetables — by 20.8%. The price of fruits grew by 4.1%, bakery products and cereals — an increase of 2.9%. Expensive meat, dairy products, cheese and eggs.

It is also noted that during the same period prices for food products in the European Union grew by only 1%. And in March in the EU countries there is a decrease in prices for food products by 0.2%.

Rosstat notes that in 2018 food products in Russia rose in price faster than in the EU at 4.2% to 5.5% growth as against 1.3%.
