When on the morning of 25 Jul 44-year-old German farmer Karl Pegler saw his corn field, he couldn't believe his eyes: almost all of his corn turned into popcorn. Blame is probably the heat, providing in this season of record-breaking temperatures across Germany.
In fact, Pegler was not going in the box for another week, but a local resident called him and told about the mysterious bangs that he had heard passing by the field.
"And what do I do now? 35 hectares! The whole crop is gone! I've never seen so much popcorn, even during fairs," complains Pegler, considering corn on the cob. In fact, almost all corn is already "jumped" from cob and now cover the earth in the form of popcorn. However, you can still hear it, as in the field still hear the popping of roasting ears.
Pegler doesn't know how to be. "The only thing I can do now is to immediately harvest the crop, and hope for a miracle that even some corn can be saved," he says, mentioning that due to the record heat, growers also reported that digging real French fries, and from the wheat fields comes a bright smell of fresh baking.
