As stated by the Minister of agriculture, Russia is a key trading partner of Sri Lanka and a major importer of produce in the Republic of tea.
"However, from January to September this year, we see almost a doubling of Russian exports to Sri Lanka due to the growth of the supply of wheat. I think that we have all the chances to ensure the positive dynamics of bilateral trade by the end of the current year", - said Dmitry Patrushev.
The head of the Ministry noted that Russia has the capacity to increase supply in Sri Lanka grain and oil and fat products, confectionery products, and poultry. The producers are counting on a mutual interest in the growth of trade turnover of agricultural products between countries.
During the meeting, the agriculture Minister also highly appreciated the effective cooperation of the Supervisory authorities of the two countries in terms of security and quality of supply of agricultural products.
