New investment projects on construction of greenhouses will increase their total area in the Stavropol region by 50% by 2021.

It is planned that the area of greenhouses in the region will increase from 198 to 294 hectares, said TASS in the press service of the regional Ministry of agriculture.

"By 2021 in the implementation of the planned projects, the volume of production of greenhouse vegetables will be about 120 thousand tons, and the total area of greenhouses in Stavropol region will be 294 hectares," the message reads.

According to the Ministry, in 2020, the province plans construction of four investment projects in the Foothills and Levokumskij areas and also in the Izobilnensky municipal district.

"In 2019 we have expanded our area of protected ground on 32 hectares, plus 20 thousand tons to the production of greenhouse vegetables. And continue to move towards our strategic goal - to take first place in the country for the production of greenhouse vegetables", - said the Governor Vladimir Vladimirov on his page in Instagram.
