The cultivation of flax and the production of its fiber are some of the key activities of this multidisciplinary company. Over the last five years the sown area of flax in the economy increased by 650 ha and in 2020 amounted to 1100 ha. In a modern plant is processed per day, 15 tons of flax, there is produced a high quality short and long fibers. To achieve high performance underpinned by government support that is provided including the development of flax, the purchase of elite seeds in other areas.

"Currently, the cultivation of flax in Russia is reviving and expanding its capacity both in terms of import substitution, providing the raw material of light industry and export development of agricultural products. Only in the last 5 years supplying domestic flax abroad has increased more than 3.7 times, and according to preliminary data, at the end of the 1st half of 2020, its exports amounted to more than 1100 tons worth about 1.4 million dollars. The Ministry of agriculture will continue to provide comprehensive support for the sector aimed at improving its competitiveness, technical and technological renovation" — said Dmitry Patrushev.

Special attention the Minister paid to the necessity of technical modernization of flax processing factories, the development of a competitive domestic breeding of this culture, the development of new science-based technologies of its cultivation and processing.

To date the flax is busy 149 Russian agricultural producers. This year, the sown area under crop is increased, in accordance with the state Program of AIC gross harvest of flax fiber and percolone (no smallholders) should be 48 thousand tons. For the further development of production to 2020 new measures of state support in the form of a compensatory and incentive subsidies. In particular, the cultivation of flax is provided, as a priority, in the framework of the incentive grants in 11 regions of the country.
