Russia is interested in increasing supplies of grain to Japan
July 14, was held a Russian-Japanese dialogue at the level of Deputy Ministers of agrarian departments of Russia and Japan, Sergei Levin, and Makoto Osawa. The meeting participants discussed opportunities for expanding bilateral trade in agricultural and fishery products between the two countries.

In January ‒ may 2020 compared with the same period last year the trade turnover of agricultural products increased by 14% and amounted to 86 million dollars. However, exports to Japan from Russia for the period increased by 21% to 67 million dollars. The main items of Russian exports to Japan are frozen fish, shellfish, corn, wheat and meslin.

"Considering the growing export potential of grain in Russia, as well as the geographical proximity of our countries, we believe it is a promising extension of cooperation with Japan in the field of trade in cereals and legumes", - said Sergey Levin.

In this regard, the parties discussed the issue of increasing the volume of Russian exports of cereals in Japan. Special attention was paid to the organization of the grain of the mission to Russia for representatives of state and business circles of Japan interested in imports of Russian products. As the head of the external relations Department of JSC "UGC" Olga garshyna, the Russian side is ready to organize a visit to the largest in our country deep-sea grain terminal, PJSC "Novorossiysk Kombinat KHLEBOPRODUKTOV", in order to study the structure of grain handling and a visit to one of the regions in the South of Russia to get acquainted with the cleaning works and storage of grain. Supplies of Russian grain crops in Japan, also possible via the far Eastern marine terminals, for example, the port of Zarubino in the Primorye territory and the port of Vladivostok.

Also speaking at the event also focused on the mutual access of agricultural products to the markets of the two countries, in particular beef and pork, poultry, dairy products and other products. It was noted that in relation to mutual access of livestock products to the Russian and Japanese veterinary services carried out extensive and fruitful work. The Deputy head of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia thanked the Japanese colleagues for the provision of veterinary-sanitary requirements for export of poultry meat from the Tula and Bryansk regions in Japan, as well as harmonization of the veterinary certificate on exported from Russia to Japan heat processed milk and dairy products.
