Food around the world becomes cheaper for the fourth consecutive year. It is reported by the food and agriculture organization of the United Nations (UN Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO).

Annual average food price index the FAO in 2015 amounted to $ 164.1 points, which is almost 19% lower than in 2014, according to the UN news Center.

The main reason for the reduction in the price of food experts call for better yields and a slowdown in global economic growth in the world. The UN noted that depreciates everything: food, metals and energy.
"Large supplies amid modest global demand and a strengthening dollar are the main cause of low food prices during 2015," said FAO senior economist abdolreza Abbassian.

In the UN remind that in December 2015, the prices for grain fell by 1.3% compared to November values. This happened against the background of intensified export competition among corn producers and the expectations term proposals for wheat after Argentina announced the cancellation of export duties on grain.

As for idexa prices for dairy products, in December it fell by a cent. The meat fell 2.2% due to the surplus of pork in Europe and declining demand for imported beef in the US. On average, according to FAO, in 2015 the global market for meat has become cheaper by 15.1% compared with the previous year.

Sugar in December rose by 0.6%, but overall in 2015 it has become cheaper by 21% than a year earlier.

It is noteworthy that this world tenedency in no way affected Russia and some other countries in the em currencies. Thus, according to Rosstat, by the end of November in Russia, the increase in food prices in 2015 reached 16.3% in annual terms. Some food products rose even more: for example, sunflower oil has become more expensive over the year by 44.6%, sugar by 30.2%, fruit and vegetables on average by 24.3%. This is without counting the price increase the end of 2014, when, according to the same Rosstat products in the country increased by an average of 3.3%.
